MUDEM-RSC presents award-winning movie “The Guest” and “Migration from the Perspective of Refugee Women” photograph exhibition
MUDEM-RSC brought art fans together with preview of the movie “The Guest” -directed by Andaç Haznedaroğlu, starring Saba Mubarak and Şebnem Dönmez- that tells the “on-the-road stories” of the refugees. At the event that took place in Grand Pera (former Emek Cinema) Andaç Haznedaroğlu (Director) and Şebnem Dönmez (Actress) satisfied the curiosity of the audience. A photograph exhibition –by refugee women who had been taking photography training for a month- took place before the movie screening.
MUDEM-RSC, in partnership with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Ministry of Health, has brought art fans together with the screening of the movie “The Guest”, within the scope of “Safe Spaces for Women and Girls” project. After the preview of the movie that took place in Istanbul Grand Pera (former Emek Cinema), an interview took place with the attendance of Andaç Haznedaroğlu (Director), Şebnem Dönmez (Actress), Çelik Özüduru (UNFPA Communication Expert), and Safa Karataş (General Coordinator of MUDEM-RSC). Telling the story of a young girl who loses her father during the conflict in Syria, “The Guest” has been awarded multiple times in both national (such as Antalya and Boğaziçi) and international film festivals.
Migration from the perspective of refugee women
Before the preview of “The Guest”, a photohraph exhibition (Migration from the Perspective of Refugee Women) consisting of photographs taken by MUDEM-RSC’s beneficiaries took place. Having been trained for photography for a month, refugee women presented their photographs of Istanbul and of the objects they brought from Syria. Ten refugee women shared their feelings and the stories of the fifty pictures they took.
