İzmir Education Support Center
Financed in collaboration with Expertise France, RSC İzmir Education Support Center started operating in October 2016, in Izmir. Speaking clubs, choirs, theatre classes, handcraft workshops and mindfulness seminars are organized for the Syrians holding temporary protection status from all ages. The child-friendly space within the Center has become a place where children socialize via playing games, painting and music classes thanks to the contribution of volunteers and the interns at RSC.
In addition to these activities, lockstitch machine trainings were organized in collaboration with İŞKUR Bornova Service Center and Bornova Public Education Center, and 80 adult Syrians were upskilled through shoe design and shoe-upper trainings organized in collaboration with Bornova Public Education Center and İzmir Chamber of Shoemakers. Beneficiaries successfully completing these trainings were referred to the relevant textile and shoemaking enterprises. In the cases found necessary, beneficiaries have been referred to institutions actively working in the field such as RSC Sustainable Life Center, Turkish Red Crescent, ASAM Multi-Service Center, Child and Family Support Center. The Center has reached out to more than 600 people from the beginning of the project.
